Rock Mite 20
Really fun kit from Steve, K1SWL. Took about two hours to get it on air and despite the fixed frequency (actually two freqs) this is the rig I've had most fun with. Gets 100mW out battery operated and awesome 400mW with psu. One problem of this little rig is the receiver which is as wide as a barn door. One solution is a active filter kit from Dan's Small Parts and Kits . Filter is built around TL072 with few caps and resistors. Works really well and makes this fun rig that much better. Nowadays I have also Rock Mites for 40m and 80m bands. Picture 1 Interior view. Picture 2 Front view. Pot is not connected - it is there only to fill an extra hole. Picture 3 Rear view. The enclosure used to be something else so those extra holes can now be considered as cooling system, hi. Kuva 4 Dan's filter schematics.. Small Wonder Labs User's comments in eHam.net 73, Heikki |
